As a new homeowner, there is a lot to learn, particularly when it comes to home maintenance. When I come across a tip, that saves energy, and money, AND makes my home safer, I can’t wait to pass it on. Here is what I learned:

Add dryer duct cleaning to your yearly household maintenance list

Your dryer may be costing you more on your energy bills than you realize. Cleaning out your dryer ducts not only helps your dryer run more efficiently, it helps eliminate a potential fire hazard as well.

There are several ways to clean out your dryer ducts.  Your favorite home improvement store should carry a handy brush that connects to your drill. You then place the brush into your dryer vent and fire up the drill. The rotating brush will scrape and remove the wayward lint. An alternative method involves vacuuming out the dryer vent and exhaust tubing inside and outside your home.
