As 2024 winds down, paint companies are already looking ahead to 2025 and what colors will be trendy for the new year. Below are some of the 2025 Colors of the Year that have been announced.

SHERWIN-WILLIAMS
Grounded (SW6089), Sunbleached (SW9585), Chartreuse (SW0073), Bosc Pear (SW6390), White Snow (SW9541), Rain Cloud (SW9639), Clove (SW9605), Malabar (SW9110), and Mauve Finery (SW6282)

In celebration of its 15th anniversary of naming a Color of the Year, Sherwin-Williams is instead naming a Color Capsule of the Year with nine different colors that can “curated to stand out with any style.” Director of Color Marketing Sue Wadden said they “wanted a modern, fresh take on color, with a balanced and usable assortment of shades,” in the color capsule. From neutral whites, blacks, grays, and browns to more colorful options like Chartreuse and Mauve Finery, the collection has colors to fit any style preference.

BEHR
Rumors (MQ1-15)

After reviewing new research done by its team that showed 76% of Americans say they would consider painting a room or wall a shade of red, Behr selected Rumors as its 2025 Color of the Year. This deep and dynamic ruby red “empowers DIYers, designers and paint professionals to create impactful color moments.” Said Vice President of Color and Creative Services at Behr Paint Company Erika Woelfel, “We’re seeing people embrace color like never before. Rumors is a modern take on the timeless red that creates an energetic appeal to make a lasting statement in a stunning way.”

The versatile color can be paired with whites, creams, pinks, corals, blues, greens, and more. Click here for more on Rumors, including Behr’s color coordinating groupings.

BENJAMIN MOORE
Cinnamon Slate (2113-40)

Benjamin Moore calls Cinnamon Slate a “delicate mix of heathered plum and velvety brown [that] offers enduring style and a modern sensibility.” According to Benjamin Moore, interest in and the use of saturated colors has increased in recent years, making Cinnamon Slate the perfect choice for Color of the Year. “Cinnamon Slate is an inviting hue that offers enduring style and modern sensibility. Its depth and richness bring an air of approachability and sense of comfort throughout the home, making it a new favorite for years to come,” said Andrea Magno, director, color marketing & design at Benjamin Moore.

Glidden
Purple Basil (1046-7)

In choosing its Color of the Year, Glidden said it is “supporting color chip daydreamers as we embrace the transformative power of color by naming Purple Basil (#1046-7) the Color of the Year for 2025.” Glidden added the color “represents the appreciation for self-discovery and self-expression that has led to the rise of maximalism across industries, including design, fashion and consumer goods. In the year ahead this trend will lead us to unapologetically embrace the rich warmth and energy delivered by colors like Purple Basil.”

DUTCH BOY
Mapped Blue (429-5DB)

Dutch Boy went a different direction than other companies that were in the red to purple color range, choosing this cool-undertoned blue. In choosing it as the 2025 Color of the Year, Dutch Boy noted “Mapped Blue helps set a timeless foundation in your home, staying on-trend as your personal style evolves. A beautiful, medium-tone blue with slight yellow undertones, it adds modern charm to any space.”
