Looking for a little color inspiration for this year? Sherwin-Williams has announced its 2021 Color of the Year: Urbane Bronze, a hue “whose warmth and comfort breathe down-to-earth tranquility.” Sherwin-Williams cites two big reasons for selecting Urbane Bronze as its color of the year.
Finding Sanctuary
“As we’re looking to create the ultimate retreat for reflection and renewal, we’re turning to a hue whose natural simplicity and nature-inspired energy cultivate a sense of calm from the ground up,” Sherwin-Williams noted in its announcement.
Rooted in Nature
Nature continues to be a trend in interior design, and Sherwin-Williams notes Urbane Bronze is a great way to tap into nature and get that feel. “Urbane Bronze might be a color rooted in nature, but it also has a unique ability to ground a room through organic appeal. Whether it’s accentuating window trims or accent walls, this warm hue draws from nature for a feeling of relaxation and serenity.”

Coordinating Colors and Materials
Want to use Urbane Bronze in your décor? Sherwin-Williams has a few ideas on what other materials and colors to coordinate with it. Noting this is “a refreshing alternative and complement to gray,” Sherwin-Williams sales Urbane Bronze pairs well with pale woods, rich leathers, metals, and understated stone tones. For a touch of glimmer, try polished silver or brass accents. If you want to extend the nod to nature, add organic, textured textiles.
