One of the great joys of owning a home is the ability to host get-togethers with family and friends! This Sunday the NFL is providing a great excuse for a party as the Denver Broncos meet the Carolina Panthers for a rumble in the Bay Area’s shiny new stadium.
For this year’s party, I’ve created a culinary homage to the teams (and threw in a little thank you to San Francisco for hosting the game).
THE KICKER
Colorado Green Chili: Colorado loves its green chili so much there’s an official chili season when roadside roasters pop up all over the state. This recipe makes a great appetizer with tortilla chips or crusty bread. It’s even better if you make it a day in advance and let all the goodness steep in the fridge overnight. http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/chili-verde-colorado-green-chili.html
THE QUARTERBACK
North Carolina Pulled Pork BBQ Sandwich: North Carolina does BBQ a little differently… with vinegar, sugar, and honey! Holy cow (or in this case, pig) it’s good. For extra “zazz” smother it in creamy coleslaw or heat it up with that green chili. http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/north-carolina-pulled-pork-bbq-sandwich.html#
THE CENTER
Sourdough and Corn Pudding: Because every great meal needs a tasty side, here’s a nod to that famous San Francisco sourdough. Of course, you could make Rice-A-Roni, but this is much more interesting, easy, and super delicious (think stuffing with a twist). http://www.cookingchanneltv.com/recipes/sourdough-and-corn-pudding.html
THE HOLDER
Mini Corndog Muffins: Ok, these don’t fit the clever theme, but they were SO popular last year we decided to make them a party staple. You have to try these! http://hip2save.com/2014/01/24/mini-corn-dog-muffins-recipe/
Here’s hoping your party is a smash and your team takes home the Lombardi!
